LUCID Working Program

The LUCID project started in 2014 and was scheduled according to the following working packages.

WP1: Requirements and Specification of a Reference Architecture

In this work package, the requirements from the ITA network (automobile manufacturers, IT service providers) and other selected companies on a decentralized network of information for data exchange in value chains are collected, aggregated, summarized and prioritized. From the collected requirements, the system architecture for the Linked Data Value Chain (LUCID) endpoint is derived.

WP2: Distributed Semantic Social Networks

This work package focuses in particular on the development of protocols for the establishment of a decentralized, semantic information network. For this purpose, the collected requirements will be matched with the existing standards and protocols such as OpenID / WebID, Semantic Pingback, PubSubHubbub. Particular emphasis is placed on the scalability to large networks with information flows across hundreds of thousands of nodes.

WP3: Implementation of Strategies for Data Security and Access Control

Of particular importance in the exchange of sensitive production data over public networks is to ensure the data security and access control. In this work package therefore appropriate authentication standards (such as OpenID / WebID), encryption standards (such as TLS, VPN, DANE) and release standards (access control lists) are investigated and expanded where appropriate.

WP4: Distributed Value Chain Data Management

In this work package we develop methods that allow companies to provide information for partner companies on the LUCID endpoint. On one hand, strategies will be developed that allow partners to integrate existing corporate data sources dynamically (such as mapping of relational databases). In addition to that, data wiki technologies will be developed in order to allow LUCID endpoint users to create new information structures in the simplest way and share it with partners in the network in a secure manner.

WP5: LUCID Endpoint Prototype

In this work package, existing and newly developed components from the LUCID project are integrated into a coherent overall system, which is available as a LUCID endpoint to test and subsequent production use. The LUCID endpoint implements the WP1 reference architecture, integrates the components from WP2-4 and supports the use cases developed in WP6 and WP7.

WP6: Configurator for Value-added Networks

In this work package an easy-to-use interface (dashboard) to be developed, in order to search value-added partners and assemble them into a network. The orchestration of value networks will be supported on the basis of a comprehensive number of parameters.

WP7: Value Chain Health Monitoring

In this work package we examine how important changes to a value chain can be monitored. Exemplary changes that can be derived from public data sources, are takeover and merger, change in management, reduction of the share capital, reduction of sites, bankruptcy filings. For these indicators for potential crises or negative developments we develop a dashboard in order to monitor changes of a companies value added networks. Critical events will draw the attention of the user on an affected partner and can trigger predefined processes, such as contact and personal clarification or a search for an alternative partner.

WP8: Testbed and Trials

In this work package the LUCID approach will be tested with members of the ITA and customers of Implisense. This work package is an essential foundation for a possible further processing and market introduction.

WP9: Project Management and Coordination

The aim of the project management is the coordination of the project and thus ensuring the achievement of the planned milestones and project goals. The project management ensures the application of the guidelines of the funding agency (BMBF) as well as the presentation of the results to the public. In addition to that, the cooperation between the project partners will be coordinated.
